Inspiring & Resourcing the communities of Bo, Kenema
& Freetown, Sierra Leone
Supporting Education & Spiritual Development
Roda and his family support the local schools with resources for teaching as well as providing uniforms and sporting equipment for the local sports teams. Through this rapport-building, Roda and his team are able to be positive role models and teach their community about the bible and the teachings of Jesus.
Materials for Learning
Many educational materials are not provided by the government due to the internal strife often at play in the country of Sierra Leone. Roda and his colleagues work with school leaders to ensure that students have access to current textbooks that are age appropriate and written in their primary language.
Roda and his team are empowering their local communities by setting up vocational training opportunities in the areas of agriculture, construction, tailoring, welding, and carpenter jobs. The front of the land that the church is currently situated on is earmarked for a vocational training center in the future.
Community Vocational Training
Leadership
Roda’s and his team’s community leadership approach extends beyond the church to help ensure the children and families within the communities of Bo, Kenema, and Freetown have all the necessary support to learn, work and play.
“For the community, I work with the children to teach them about the bible, and I reach out to the youth through the sports they like and support them with the items they need to play. In return, I have time to teach them about the bible and also help them in their education. Once the ministry building is completed, we will have a place to meet for bible study lessons and to teach the local youth important vocational skills training”
